Icy road conditions in Topeka

22 January 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Capital City was iced over on Monday presenting for treacherous road conditions.

The NWS is telling drivers to consider altering driving plans, use caution while driving because ice may be hard to see and to check road conditions at kandrive.org. Slick spots can be expected on roads and sidewalks.

At 6:18 a.m. the National Weather Service (NWS) of Topeka said freezing drizzle is building in areas from the south. Temperatures are expected to rise above freezing this afternoon but could plunge into freezing temperatures around 5 to 7 p.m.

“Please use caution if traveling as roads could quickly become icy!” the National Weather Service of Topeka said on social media.

There haven’t been many crashes or slide-offs yet but it’s slippery in spots, according to the Topeka Police Watch Commander.
