House fire in Southeast Topeka results in $38,000 in damage

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Topeka Fire Department (TFD) responded to a house fire in Southeast Topeka on Tuesday.

At 1 p.m., crews found fire and smoke coming from a single-story house in the 2500 block of SE 13th St. Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire. The occupants of the house were able to escape before crews arrived, according to the TFD.

A TFD investigation unit determined the cause of the fire to be accidental. Working fire detectors were found inside the home. The total estimated loss was approximately $38,000.
