Homelessness in Kansas: Where do state, local leaders stand on solutions

TOPEKA (KSNT) – On the latest episode of Inside Kansas Politics, state and local leaders are weighing in on solutions to address homelessness in the state. It’s part of a follow-up on our special report on homelessness in Kansas.

27 News Capitol Bureau Chief Rebekah Chung sat down with State Representative Francis Awerkamp, chair of the state’s House Welfare Reform Committee and the Special Committee on Homelessness. Awerkamp was joined by Devon Kurtz, Public Safety Policy Director at the Cicero Institute, an Austin-based research organization, Christina Ashie-Guidry, Director of Policy and Planning with UCS JOCO and Emily Wagner, Executive Director of Manhattan Emergency Shelter, Inc.. All four also weighed in on what they’re seeing on the grounds in Kansas.
