Hays police investigating animal cruelty case after sick dog found by dumpster

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — The Hays Police Department is investigating a criminal case of animal cruelty.

A Facebook post from the Hays Police Department said they are looking for the owners of a young male puppy that was placed in a box next to two large dumpsters in the 1500 block of Old Highway 40 bypass on Feb. 7.


Standoff ends at QuikTrip in south Wichita

Police said the puppy was taken to a local veterinarian clinic, where it tested positive for parvovirus.
