TOPEKA (KSNT) – The groundbreaking for a new Topeka park is set for Wednesday this week.
Shawnee County Parks and Recreation (SCP+R) announced in a press release that a ceremonial groundbreaking for Family Park will happen at 10 a.m. on April 10 at 2201 SW Urish Road. Local officials will be present for the occasion.
Shawnee County Commissioners approved the Family Park Master Plan back in 2021 with a multi-million dollar price tag. The addition of this park has been under discussion for a decade to provide additional recreation opportunities for locals of all ages.
Designs for the park released in 2023 include plans for a playground, pickleball courts and a shelter house. To learn more about the park on the SCP+R’s website, click here.
