Go Red for Women event cancelled in Topeka

31 January 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT) – An event held for years will come to an end due to uncontrollable factors.

On Wednesday, the American Heart Association (AHA) announced it would no longer be holding the Go Red for Women event in Topeka.

“This is not a decision that we take lightly but feel that this is the best path forward,” the press release said. “We are deeply sorry for the inconvenience – we’re sure that you’re just as disappointed as we are.”

The AHA said it isn’t going anywhere and would remain active in the community. The Kids Heart Challenge/American Heart Challenge, formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart, will still be held in the community, according to the press release. National Wear Red Day will still be recognized on Friday, Feb. 2, and AHA encourages Topekans to participate.

“We have shared many memories, including survivor stories, memorable auction packages, and educating our community about women’s heart health, together,” the AHA said. “WE have worked hard for a long time, putting together memorable and beautiful events to inform, engage, and inspire our community.”
