23 January 2024

LAWRENCE (KSNT) – KU men’s basketball picked up a bounce back win on Monday, after losing to West Virginia over the weekend.

Kansas beat Cincinnati, 74-69, on ESPN’s Big Monday in Allen Fieldhouse.

The Jayhawks got a major boost from freshman guard Johnny Furphy, who notched his first career double-double with 23 points and 11 rebounds.

After jumping out to a 10-2 start, Kansas failed to keep the Bearcats at arms length and found itself in a tie game, 35-35, at halftime. Kansas never trailed in the second half.

The Jayhawks improve to 16-3 overall and 4-2 in Big 12 play. KU returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 at Iowa State.
