Funeral held for Clearwater police officer killed in crash

24 March 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Clearwater police officer Scott Hollingsworth was laid to rest on Saturday.

The funeral was held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, where Hollingsworth was a member.

For many, Hollingsworth was more than just a police officer. His family remembers him as a dedicated and hardworking person.

“Probably I would say the thing I love the most about him, how much he loved his wife and his daughter,” Scott’s father, Greg, said. “He was a great father, and an incredible husband. So that’s probably the thing I loved the most.”

Greg said for those who knew Scott to remember the positive stories and connections they held with him.

Greg also said the family is full of gratitude for the outpouring of love they have received from the community.

“Scotty was part of the Clearwater police department, and absolutely part of the community,” Greg said. “That has been a blessing, silver lining through all of this. The support, the love, and the prayers that everyone has offered, and trying to take care of us, which they know they can’t. But we’re just filled with gratitude that with the outpouring of love and support that we’ve been shown.”

Greg said outside of policing, Scott was focused on taking care of his family and establishing roots in the community. That goal was accomplished, he said.

“He just, he was very focused on what he wanted to do,” Greg said. “He wanted to take care of his family. They just bought a house and closed on a house last December. He wanted to set roots and he wanted a career. He was very focused on his plan, and he was working his plan. And was just about trying to establish his family and make a difference.

“From what we’ve seen the last week, in a short amount of time, he accomplished all of his goals.”
