WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Several people remain in the hospital with critical injuries after Wednesday’s shooting following the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade and rally. A friend of the woman who died is remembering her life.
Lisa Lopez-Galvan was a well-known DJ in the Kansas City area. One of her friends, who has known her for 25 years and is the godfather of her daughter, said Lopez-Galvan managed to make the big city feel like a small town.
According to him, her son was shot as well, and some of her young nephews and nieces are in the hospital after being hit.
Although Raul Garcia lives in Wichita, he said he’d visit Lopez-Galvan and her husband in Kansas City almost every weekend. He said going out with Lopez-Galvan, people would constantly stop her to say hello, and if anyone needed to put a party together, they knew to call DJ Lisa.
“Nobody can talk bad about her, biggest smile, just awesome that’s all I can say man I am lost for words she was just the best person,” Garcia said.
Garcia said Lopez-Galvan was a music lover who DJ’d for a local radio station and for special events.
He said she was loved not only by her children but by her nieces and nephews, who fondly call her Tia Lisa. He said her family is still shocked by the loss.
Garcia said what he would miss the most about Lisa was her smile. He said the impact of her death will be felt for years, especially by her children, who will never get to see her become a grandmother.
