Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr to visit Topeka

22 January 2024

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – A special guest of the Kansas Chamber will be visiting the Capital City later this year at the 2024 Annual Dinner.

Former U.S. Attorney General William Barr is set to be the keynote speaker for the dinner taking place on April 29, according to the Kansas Chamber. This will take place at the Stormont Vail Events Center.

“The Kansas Chamber and its members are honored to have Attorney General Barr as its keynote speaker for this year’s dinner,” said the Chamber’s President and CEO Alan Cobb. “Mr. Barr’s service in government and work in the private sector gives him an understanding of the impact burdensome and unnecessary regulations and mandates have on our country’s businesses.”

Barr served as the attorney general of the U.S. under Presidents George H. W. Bush and Donald Trump. He is recognized as the only individual to serve in the position twice.

Barr also spent time as executive vice president and general counsel for GTE Corporation from 1994 to 2000, according to the Kansas Chamber. He later served as executive vice president and general counsel of Verizon from 2000 to 2008. In both positions, Barr led the legal, regulatory and government affairs activities of both major companies.

He currently serves as chairman of the advisory board of the Center for Legal Action, part of the American Free Enterprise Chamber of Commerce. The CLA combats excessive expansion of federal regulations and mandates.
