‘FLAT TAX’: Panel breaks down GOP plan

5 February 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT)- Kansas Republicans are preparing to revive their tax plan, featuring a single-rate income tax, or ‘flat tax’ as some call it. Meanwhile, some democrats are calling on GOP lawmakers to take up Governor Laura Kelly’s plan.

On the latest episode of Inside Kansas Politics, Capitol Bureau Chief Rebekah Chung speaks with a full panel to look at all sides of the issue.

Chung sits down with the Legislative Director for Americans for Prosperity, Michael Austin, Political Science Professor and author, Michael Smith, and Capital City economist Paul Byrne. They’re weighing in on which plan is most sustainable and whether a compromise can be made.
