Fire reported at Russell motel

RUSSELL, Kan. (KSNW) – The Russell Fire Department responded to a fire at The Lodge at 901 S. Fossil on Thursday.

The department was able to get the fire under control around 8:20 a.m.

The city sent out an alert just after 8 a.m. asking that residents avoid the area for firefighter and first responder safety, saying it was “a dangerous situation.”

Crews are continuing to check for fire extensions at the motel.
