The Storm Track 3 Weather Team has been talking about fire concerns since last week and over the weekend we started to see Fire Weather Alerts get issued. A Fire Weather Warning will be in effect today fore much of Western Kansas.
Due to warm, windy, and dry conditions a Fire Weather Watch will be in effect through Tuesday.
Tuesday will also be a day of change as another cold front starts to move through. This next one will be a potent one with a big impact to our temperatures and some moisture. In the meantime, conditions will be quiet today with the exception of a strong breeze.
Expect a very warm start to the new week. A strong southwesterly breeze will send us into the 70s and 80s.
Skies will be dry with mostly sunny to partly cloudy conditions. Our next cold front starts to move in Tuesday. There will be a small chance for a rain/snow shower first to the northwest.
As the day progresses a chance for a rain/snow shower will spread into the rest of the area. Any moisture by evening will still be spotty.
This gradually wraps up through the night and skies will be drier by Wednesday, which will also be a much cooler day with many highs falling into the 40s.
The break from spring-like temperatures will be brief and we will quickly warm back up the rest of the week. We are in store for another temperature drop next Monday and the Storm Track 3 Weather Team is also monitoring the potential for some moisture.
