Fire damages buildings, vehicle in east Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Topeka firefighters were called to the scene of a shed fire that caused thousands of dollars worth of damage to property on Saturday.

The Topeka Fire Department (TFD) was called around 10:30 p.m. on March 2 to the 500 block of SE Leland Street, according to a press release from the City of Topeka. Fire crews at the scene found the fire spreading to a nearby detached garage and vehicle.

Topeka spokeswoman Rosie Nichols said firefighters requested help in extinguishing the flames. An investigation into the incident has yet to identify the cause but did confirm a total estimate of $13,500 in damage to local property. No one was injured during the incident.
