‘We love what we do’: Ta Co. Topeka reveals new hours at West Ridge Mall

TOPEKA (KSNT) – If your teen is looking to find a way to earn some cash or a find their first job in Shawnee County, this work program may be just the thing they need.
The City of Topeka took some time on Friday, March 1 to let area residents know about the ‘Topeka Way to Work’ program. This is open to all youths between the ages of 14 and 16 who are looking to find a job over the summer months.
Those who sign up will be selected and partnered up with local businesses and non-profits for a six-week program running from June 10 to July 19, 2024. Work hours for participants will be from 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Thursday and every other Friday. Pay while attending the program is $7.25 an hour.
All those wanting to participate in Topeka Way to Work must attend an orientation session from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 7 at Fellowship Hi-Crest located at 455 SE Golf Park Boulevard. Teens must attend the session with a legal guardian to be eligible for the program.
Interviews for the program will be held on April 14 and 21 with applicants receiving notification of their entry into the program between April 22-26. Participants who make it in will also attend professional development sessions in June and July on communication, leadership development, social media and situational awareness.
