The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office said the inmate had a history of chronic medical problems that resulted in being hospitalized twice during her incarceration.

The SCSO said she received care as recently as Feb. 28, 2024, where no emergent concerns were discovered. Preliminary examination indicates a major medical event occurring in the early morning hours.

The Kansas Bureau of Investigation was notified, and with the assistance of the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division, are looking into the death.

This is the third in-custody death, according to the SCSO.
