Families enjoy warm Easter weather at Gage Park

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The warm spring temperatures drew Topekans to Gage Park for Easter celebrations.

Families were out enjoying everything the park has to offer, celebrating the holiday with Easter egg hunts and afternoon train rides.

Leanna Battle is the manager of Adventure Cove at Lake Shawnee, but spent Easter Sunday working the ticket booth for the Gage Park train.

“Seeing families and just like seeing everybody be able to come out here as a community,” Battle said, “I think that’s the best thing to see.”

Many of the kids at the park could not contain their excitement. Some of them shared their favorite parts of the day’s festivities.

“We were riding the train and having an Easter egg hunt,” a child said. “It was very fun! We found tons of candy and toys!”

Battle says she enjoys working at the park because there aren’t many frowning faces.

“It’s nice to deal with happy people,” she said. “That’s why I love working here, ’cause it really is hard to have a bad time.”
