ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Arkansas City has a new chief of police.

Jim Holloway has been sworn in as the permanent replacement for former Chief Eric Burr. Burr stepped down in January after announcing his retirement in December.

Holloway has been serving as interim chief since January 2. He has been with the Arkansas City Police Department since he graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center near Hutchinson in 1989.

“Throughout the past few months, I have conversed with Chief Holloway to understand his vision for the department,” said City Manager Randy Frazer. “I am confident that his wealth of experience and commitment will contribute to outstanding leadership in the years ahead.”

“I am deeply honored and humbled to have been named Chief of the Arkansas City Police Department,” said Chief Holloway. “Serving the community I have participated in for over three decades is a privilege. I am committed to upholding the values of integrity, professionalism, and service as we work together to ensure the safety and well-being of our residents.”

Holloway was officially sworn in during the Arkansas City Commission meeting on March 5.
