FORT RILEY (KSNT) – Residents of Fort Riley can expect to hear loud booms and feel the ground shake until next Sunday.
Starting Jan. 22 and running to Jan. 28, the Fort Riley 1st Infantry Division and other units will be training. Surrounding communities may hear significant noise from tanks, artillery, mortar fire and small arms fire.
“The 1st Infantry Division and the other units that call Fort Riley and the Central Flint Hills Region home, train hard to be ready at a moment’s notice to answer our nation’s call,” the U.S. Army of Fort Riley announced online. “Sometimes this fast-paced training results in loud artillery, low-flying aircraft, weapons or demolition noise.”
