WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A choir called the Rivertones at Riverside Elementary School in Wichita has a new way to project their music.
Envision gifted the Wichita choir new karaoke machines as a thank you after the choir performed for some of Envision’s clients during the holidays last year.
“So the karaoke machines, obviously they came and sang to us,” Hannah Christenson, the director of community services for Envision said. “But we’re trying to encourage children to use their voices in a positive way and what better way to symbolize that than to give them a karaoke machine to blast their voice and their message as far and wide as they can.”
Christenson also said no matter the disability, music brings the community together.
“Well music and other types of art forms are universal languages and they can cross disabilities, they can cross cultures they’re really unifying they bring people together and that’s one of the most wonderful things about creative arts,” Christenson said.
Envision is a nonprofit organization that works to improve the quality of life for people who are blind or visually impaired.
