EmberHope to serve foster children and families in Sedgwick County

21 February 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The faith-based non-profit EmberHope will start running foster care services in Sedgwick County starting July 1, 2024.

The Kansas Department of Children and Families awarded the contract to the Newton-based agency.

Before they can start working with those families, the organization has to hire a few hundred more people to take on the caseload. There are currently 1,300 children in state custody in Sedgwick County.

“We have 110 employees at this organization, but because of this contract, we’ll be adding another 300 plus individuals. So it will look like quite a transformation for our organization,” EmberHope president and CEO Nickaila Sandate said.

To help hire more staff, EmberHope is hosting a job fair meet-and-greet this Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at IMA Financial Group, 430 E. Douglas Ave.
