DOUGLASS, Kan. (KSNW) — Douglass High School hosted a safety fair for students Friday.
The idea behind the event was to teach students the things it takes to stay safe, since the school already provides students with what they need to know about history, math and other subjects.
The town’s fire chief says he hopes teens learn something that will help them once they move on from the classroom.
“In my mind, it’s important to teach these young kids as they get ready to enter adulthood, to be able to maybe mitigate any everyday situation they might have once they move out on their own,” said Butler County Fire District #8 Chief Aaron Guyot.
The event was put on by Students Against Drunk Driving and included representatives from fire and EMS departments as well as highway patrol.
