LAWRENCE (KSNT) – KU’s elite duo of seniors is garnering national attention.
Senior big man Hunter Dickinson and forward Kevin McCullar are both up for national player of the year awards at their respective positions.
Dickinson, a 7-foot-2 transfer from Michigan, is a finalist for the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame announced on Friday.
Dickinson, in his first year with KU, has played in all 29 games this season. He’s averaging 18.3 points and 10.7 rebounds as postseason play nears.

McCullar is a finalist for the Jerry West Shooting Guard of the Year Award.
In year six of college, the former Texas Tech Red Raider has battled injury but taken on a heavier scoring role than ever before. He’s averaging 19.1 points per game as KU enters its final regular season match, that number is up from about 10 points per game in each of the previous three seasons. McCullar, who has played 136 collegiate games, is also averaging 6.4 rebounds per game.

Both Jayhawks’ are one of five finalists in the country for their respective awards.
McCullar is in his final year of eligibility, while Dickinson has the option to play one more year of college basketball but has not yet announced his plans.
