ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — The Arkansas City Fire/EMS Department responded to two fires within 24 hours earlier this week. The fires caused a combined $65,000 in damages.
According to the ACFD, they responded at 8:15 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15, to the report of a fire in the 11000 block of 266th Dr.
The ACFD says there was a heavy fire throughout the structure. It took crews over an hour to bring it under control in the freezing temperatures. Crews remained on the scene for 2.5 more hours to extinguish any hot spots.
The Winfield Fire Department and the Udal Fire Department assisted aid in extinguishing the fire. No injuries were reported.
The estimated damage from this fire is $60,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
According to the ACFD, they responded less than 24 hours later, at 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan 16, to the report of a fire in the 7900 block of 322nd Rd.
Upon arrival, crews found a fire in an exterior wall. It took crews less than 15 minutes to bring it under control. Crews remained on the scene for one more hour to extinguish any hot spots.
No injuries were reported.
The estimated damage from this fire is $5,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
