Cleanup in northeast Kansas following tornadic night

TOPEKA, Kan. (KSNT) – On Thursday morning, people were getting their first look at Wednesday night’s storm damage in northeast Kansas.

Crews from the National Weather Service said they were surveying areas with tornado damage near Alta Vista, in Wabaunsee County, and near Rossville, in Shawnee County.

There was significant tree damage and shingles off the roof of at least one home just north of Rossville, which is located northwest of Topeka.

The first reports of a touchdown came in Wednesday evening near Alta Vista, where there were multiple reports of tornado touchdowns.

Multiple reports of hail were coming in from areas throughout northeast Kansas following Wednesday night’s storms.
