TOPEKA (KSNT) – People got the first glimpses of damage Thursday morning from Northeast Kansas’ first tornadic event of the season.
Crews from the National Weather Service said they were surveying areas with tornado damage near Alta Vista, in Wabaunsee County, and near Rossville, in Shawnee County.
There was significant tree damage and shingles off the roof at least one home just north of Rossville, which is located northwest of Topeka.
The first reports of a touchdown came in Wednesday evening near Alta Vista, where there were multiple reports of tornado touchdowns.
Multiple reports of hail were coming in from areas throughout Northeast Kansas following Wednesday night’s storms.
