21 February 2024

TOPEKA (KSNT)- The Kansas Senate voted 36-2 to pass a bill that would allow Kansans to show support for some of their favorite sports teams on their bumper.

Senate Bill 359 would allow for new license plates, including plates that represent the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals, to be issued starting next year. It would also create license plates for Sporting Kansas City, the Kansas City Current, and the Sedgwick County Zoo.

During committee hearings, supporters of the changes said that the license plates would be unifying for the community and go back to a good cause.

The bill now heads to the House.
