1 April 2024

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The NFL has rewarded Kansas City Chiefs guard Trey Smith with a performance-based pay bonus for his play during the 2023 season.

The Performance-Based Pay program is a collectively bargained benefit that compensates all players based upon their playing time and salary levels.

Smith has been a key cog for an offensive line that has been one of the best units in the NFL over the past few seasons.

Typically, players with higher percentage playing times and lower salaries benefit from this program.

Smith had the seventh highest payout of any player listed, making a total of $865,484. The Tennessee alum was selected by the Chiefs in the 6th round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors and has started every game he’s played in. Smith has been a huge piece of back-to-back Super Bowls and will look to cash in even more as he’s under the last year of his rookie deal.
