Cheney’s Jackson Voth commits to Kansas State

24 January 2024

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — After winning a state championship with the Cheney Cardinals, Jackson Voth is heading to Manhattan.

Joining the Kansas State program as a preferred walk-on, Voth had originally been committed to New Mexico State, but he backed off that decision after Aggies head coach Jerry Kill left the program.

Voth had one of the more memorable seasons in 2023. En route to a perfect 13-0 record, the Cardinals defeated local powerhouse Andale — who had a nation-leading, 75-game win streak at the time — and then beat them again in the playoffs.

It was a state championship game that was covered in a foot of snow against Topeka-Hayden, where Voth and the Cardinals completed their perfect season with a 34-7 win.

Following the season, Voth was named 3A Offensive Player of the Year in Kansas. He played both sides of the ball for Cheney, at wide receiver and linebacker. Offensively, he brought in 77 receptions for 1,030 yards and 10 touchdowns. He also ran the ball 39 times for 359 yards and 11 touchdowns.

On the defensive side of the ball, he finished the season with 76 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions and a forced fumble.
