WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Wichita tradition that started in the 1950s continued this weekend.
The Cars for Charities event started in 1957 and is now the longest-running indoor car show in the nation.
In 2011, the show was purchased and transformed into a charity event, now known as the Cars for Charities Rod and Custom Car Show, to better reflect the goals and objectives.
“Well one, there are some fantastic cool cars,” Eileen Ream, the volunteer coordinator, said. “I personally am not a car person, I’m here for the charities. But I see some that really turn my eyes, some really old fashioned ones, some really cool hot rods, all kinds of neat paint jobs.”
This year, there were over 275 cars at the fundraiser.
