Bridge work will close portion of US 83 in Garden City

GARDEN CITY, Kan. (KSNW) — Starting March 4, a portion of U.S. Highway 83 in Garden City will close.

Workers will be reconstructing the bridge over the Arkansas River on the U.S. 83 Business route through Garden City. Drivers will need to continue on U.S. 83 to the Fulton Street/U.S. 50 junction.

Construction of the new bridge is expected to be completed in December, weather permitting. Reece Construction Company, Inc. of Newton is the contractor for the $9.2 million project.
