TOPEKA (KSNT) – First responders are on the banks of the Kansas River Friday morning on reports of a body in the water.
Rosie Nichols with the City of Topeka says officers with the Topeka Police Department (TPD) were called just before 9:30 a.m. on March 29 to the 300 block of N. Kansas Avenue on a possible body in the river. Upon arrival, officers found a person who was pronounced dead at the scene.
Topeka firefighters and AMR also responded to the call. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

Police also recovered a body from the river in April 2022. This body was found beneath a railroad bridge spanning the river, leading first responders to close the area for several hours.
