TOPEKA (KSNT) – A quarter of college basketball coaches are engaging in a friendly competition which serves multiple purposes.
Charlie Hustle, a clothing company based out of Kansas City, is selling custom t-shirts for fans of KU, K-State, Mizzou and Arkansas. The shirts all feature the team’s head coach, with the following slogans:
‘Self Driven’ for KU head men’s basketball coach Bill Self
‘Tang Time’ for K-State head men’s basketball coach Jerome Tang
‘Golden Gates’ for Missouri head men’s basketball coach Dennis Gates
‘Hop On Muss Bus’ for Arkansas head men’s basketball coach Eric Musselman
The shirts provide more than just an opportunity for fans to get some new team swag. Charlie Hustle, along with all four coaches, is working with the Coaches vs. Cancer campaign with the American Cancer Society to donate a portion of the money made from selling these shirts.

All four coaches have waived their personal licensing fee and 25% of the proceeds go back to Coaches vs. Cancer, Charlie Hustle tells 27 News.
“Coaches vs Cancer is an organization I have championed for years and continue to today,” KU head coach Bill Self said in a statement. “When Charlie Hustle came to me with this idea, it was a no-brainer as this helps the American Cancer Society in their fight against cancer.”
The fan base who racks up the most purchases of their coach’s shirt will be announced as the winner on Saturday, Jan. 27. The shirts are selling for $40 each.

“This idea had been sort of manifesting for a couple years now, but it takes strong coordination to make all the moving parts come together to create the kind of impact we know something like this can bring,” Chase McAnulty, Founder/CEO of Charlie Hustle said in a statement sent to 27 News. “We’re very excited and grateful for the opportunity to showcase these four coaches and celebrate them in a playful manner while doing a lot of good at the same time. It’s the very ethos of our brand purpose, which is to evoke happiness within the company, our customers and throughout the community that has supported us so well over the years.”
As of Tuesday night, Charlie Hustle tells 27 News the Jerome Tang t-shirts are leading the race.
