TOPEKA (KSNT) – Multiple K-State and KU athletes are getting conference recognition for their performances last week.

K-State men’s basketball’s Tylor Perry, KU women’s basketball’s Taiyanna Jackson and K-State baseball’s Brady Day all earned Big 12 Player of the Week Awards in their respective sports. KU baseball’s Lenny Ashby was named the Co-Big 12 Newcomer of the week honor.

Perry, a senior guard for the ‘Cats, averaged 27.5 points in two games last week, against West Virginia and Cincinnati. He scored 54 on 22 field goal attempts in that span, and hit six 3-pointers in both games.

Jackson, a senior center for KU women’s basketball, scored a career-high 29 points in KU’s road win against UCF. She tallied back-to-back double-doubles against UCF and in KU’s home victory over No. 20 Oklahoma.

Day, a second baseman for K-State baseball, had two multi-hit and multi-RBI outings this week, helping lead K-State to a four game winning streak with a sweep of UMass Lowell.

Ashby, a senior transfer from New Mexico, had three multi-hit games over a four-game span over the weekend, helping lead KU to the first four-game series sweep under head coach Dan Fitzgerald.
