22 February 2024

TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — If you’re an AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile or Cricket customer, you may have issues with your service Thursday morning.

DownDetector.com, a website that tracks service outages, indicated a spike in complaints about their service, particularly AT&T, starting early Thursday morning.

More than 30,000 AT&T users reported an outage around 4:30 a.m. ET. Users reported that their cell phones had no signal, with many saying they were not able to make or receive calls. However, texting appeared to be working.

The site showed problems reported in several major cities, including Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and Houston, among others.

Nearly 2,000 Verizon users were also having issues with their cell phone signal. Users said the issue started around 4 a.m. ET.

A live outage map from Downdector showed Verizon users in Tampa, Florida; New York; Montreal, and Wichita, Kansas, having the majority of the issues.

T-Mobile users in Los Angeles, Houston and New York were also experiencing issues with their cell phone signal.

According to Apple, customers with iPhones will still be able to make emergency calls if “SOS” or “SOS only” is seen in the status bar.
