Arrests made in fatal shooting of 1-year-old boy

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Wichita police say three men are in custody for the fatal shooting of 1-year-old Taidyn Anderson.

A 17-year-old male, a 21-year-old male, and a 25-year-old man were taken into custody on a charge of felony murder.

Police say the 21-year-old suspect is currently on pre-trial supervision for criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied vehicle. The 25-year-old was on parole for criminal discharge of a firearm, aggravated burglary, two counts of aggravated assault, and criminal possession of a weapon.


Police investigate death of 2-year-old in east Wichita

Police say the three are responsible for the shooting that happened shortly after 7 p.m. Monday in the 2500 block of South Oliver. Three adults and three children were in the apartment when shots were fired from outside.

Taidyn and two 24-year-old women were shot. All three were rushed to the hospital. Taidyn was later pronounced dead.

“Violence in the community should outrage all of us, especially when it results in a death,
and in this case the death of a small child,” said Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan in a news release. “The WPD remains committed to finding all individuals responsible for violent crime in our community and doing our part to ensure they are held accountable for their unacceptable actions.”

Police will present the case to the District Attorney’s Office for formal charges.
