Tuesday was a very warm day with widespread highs in the 70s, some highs even got close to 80 to the southwest! We have another unseasonably warm day on tap with more highs in the 60s and 70s.
Winds will not be as strong today but this early taste of spring is starting to bring fire concerns back to the area. There have been isolated grassfires over the last few days and fire concerns will be elevated today in the far southwest corner of the area.
As another system prepares to swing through the region, skies will not be as blue today. More clouds will gradually trickle into the area but the day ahead will not be overcast.
More clouds will eventually lead to our next chance for rain. A sprinkle or shower will be possible first to the west later today.
As we head into the overnight a chance for rain will move into Central Kansas. We will need to keep an eye on the southeast corner of the area where there is an isolated severe storm risk.
Even though a rumble or two is possible, any thunder could be accompanied by some hail in our extreme South Central Kansas counties. The potential for storms should clear out pretty quickly and will not last the whole night.
There is a small chance that a few raindrops linger to the north into early Thursday but we will turn drier from there.
The second half of the work and school week will also not be as warm after this system tracks east but many highs will still be above average.
There will still be a breeze over the weekend as temperatures warm up again. Therefore, fire concerns will need to continue to be monitored closely. A windy weather maker early next week could bring another opportunity for moisture to the area.
