Kansas lawmakers approve sports betting for Casino White Cloud

TOPEKA (KSNT) – The Kansas Legislature has approved resolutions allowing the Iowa Tribe of Kansas and Nebraska to make changes to their gaming compact Tuesday.

The Kansas Senate voted 30-5 to adopt their resolution, SR 1750, and the House voted 101-20 to adopt HR 6045. Both resolutions are heading to the governor’s desk for approval. The amended compact would also need to be signed off on by the U.S. Department of Interior.

The bill allows the tribe to update their gaming compact to allow for sports betting. The tribe currently operates Casino White Cloud in Brown County.

Prairie Band Casino & Resort in Mayetta was the first tribal casino to adopt sports betting in Kansas, which kicked off this year.
