Winfield Salon Reopens After Fire

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – A Winfield salon burned beyond repair in a fire earlier this month is reopening in a new location.

Despite losing nearly everything in a fire, Dreamcatchers Salon is back in Winfield as the Phoenix Rising Salon.

It’s taken weeks of teamwork and plenty of help from the community to get to their new home open.

“This salon represents humanity and what can happen when everyone comes together and gives without question,” said Sara Lawson, Phoenix Rising Salon Owner.

Transformation, she said, starting the day after the fire when a landlord with an empty unit reached out to suggest a new location.

“That night we started cleaning and then the next day and then just for two and a half weeks straight every day we were in here working, with family and friends and strangers and here we are,” Lawson said.

Fixing up the space meant painting the ceiling and walls and redoing the floors, but not without help from a surprising number of places.

“Every inch of this salon and everything in here was donated and has a story and that’s just how we did it,” Lawson said.
