Another front starts to move in today. It will switch our winds out of the north and bring more cloud cover too.
Today’s wind shift will also attempt to spark a little rain to the southeast and northwest. However, most of us will stay dry and this chance is not looking likely.
This boundary will create a split between mild 60s and warmer 70s. It will be coolest to the northwest.
Winds will be strongest around the Wichita Metro and to the east. To account for some gusts reaching 45 mph, a Wind Advisory has been issued for several of our easternmost counties.
Due to the wind, warmth, and dry conditions, fire danger will be elevated again to the southwest.
Easter Weekend as a whole will be pleasant. It will just be breezy and warm with fair skies so Easter egg hunts and other activities will not be interrupted by active weather. A few degrees will be shaved off of afternoon highs Saturday due to the front but then temperatures warm even more Easter Sunday.
There will be a small chance for rain Easter Sunday but we may not see any wet weather until Sunday night. A couple of showers or thunderstorms will be possible mainly between Central and Eastern Kansas.
Chances for rain and storms are looking a bit better for Monday. Chances will spread into more of the area too.
Thunderstorms between Central and Eastern Kansas late in the day will need to be monitored closely. The Storm Prediction Center has already issued a severe risk.
Temperatures Monday night into Tuesday will be close to freezing to the northwest so we will need to watch out for a switch from rain to a rain/snow mixture.
Wet and some wintry weather gradually moves out through Tuesday which will also be a much cooler day. We warm back up the rest of the work week and skies are looking dry.
