$28k of counterfeit currency found at Cowley College dorm: ACPD

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A Nebraska man was arrested at a dorm at Cowley College following an investigation into counterfeit currency.

A news release from the Arkansas City Police Department says on March 27, ACPD officers executed a search warrant at Cowley College’s Kirk Dale dorms.

ACPD said it had received reports over the past month of a man going into a local business and attempting to pay with what they believed was counterfeit currency.

Officers, in cooperation with Cowley College Campus Security, found over $28,000 in what is believed to be counterfeit currency. They also found suspected illegal substances and items associated with their use.

The man, 20, was taken into custody on suspicion of five counts of counterfeiting currency, four counts of theft by deception, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

KSN does not name suspects until they are formally charged with a crime.
