HUTCHINSON, Kan. (KSNW) — A 52-year-old woman is in jail, accused of setting a man’s house on fire and then stabbing him.
The Reno County Sheriff’s Office says it happened shortly before 7:30 Tuesday night in the 5300 block of W 43rd Ave. Deputies responded to the report of a stabbing, and when they arrived, they found heavy smoke coming from a home.
The sheriff’s office says a 65-year-old man was found just outside the home with multiple stab wounds to his chest. EMS took him to Hutchinson Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The man was able to tell deputies that a woman had entered his house, set it on fire, stabbed him several times, and walked away. While deputies were investigating, Reno County 911 received a call from a 59-year-old man who said a woman had just tried to set his home in the 5300 block of W Nickerson Blvd on fire.
They were able to take the suspect into custody near the Nickerson Blvd incident. She has been booked into the Reno County Correctional Facility on a $516,500 bond for attempted homicide in the first degree, attempted aggravated arson, arson, and criminal threat.
