Injuries reported following fire at Chanute apartments

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – The Kansas State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating following a fire that injured some residents at a Chanute apartment complex.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Thursday, the Chanute Fire Department said they responded to an alarm at the Cornerstone Apartment Complex, 1610 W. 4th St. Crews found the west side apartment units fully involved in a fire with flames coming from the roof. The apartment complex sustained considerable damage throughout.


Crews battle fire at Liberal’s National Beef plant

The department said the apartment sustained considerable damage, and citizens are encouraged to stay away from the area. The Red Cross has set up a shelter at Central Park Pavilion to help residents of the apartment who need shelter and assistance.

Fire departments from Parsons, Iola, and Thayer responded to fight the fire.
