KANSAS CITY, Mo. (WDAF) — Jackson County family court says the Office of the Juvenile Officer has amended charges against a 16-year-old juvenile for last month’s shooting at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl rally after receiving additional evidence.
Family court says the teen was arraigned on the charge of the Class B felony of unlawful use of a weapon. He is also being held on the Class E felony of resisting arrest.
The court’s office said in a news release a certification hearing will be held on April 30 in which the Family Court Administrative judge will hear evidence on whether he should stand trial as an adult.
A second 16-year-old teen suspect remains detained at the Juvenile Detention Center on gun-related charges.
Dominic M. Miller, 18, of Kansas City, and Lyndell Mays, 23, of Raytown, have also both been charged with second-degree murder, two counts of armed criminal action and unlawful use of a weapon.
Charging documents say Miller and Mays attended the parade and rally on Feb. 14 armed with firearms.
Court records say Mays got into an argument with someone else after the rally.
While both these men are accused in the shooting, prosecutors say it was Miller who shot and killed Lisa Lopez-Galvan.
