WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) – Prosecutors say a federal grand jury has indicted a Wichita-area businessman with 27 counts of criminal misconduct connected to altering vehicle odometers.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Wichita says Adam Newbrey, 31, of Derby, operated three used car dealerships in Wichita:

Ideal Motors

Midwest Wholesale

Prestige Motors

According to investigators, in 2020 and 2021, Newbrey purchased used vehicles in Kansas and Oklahoma, allegedly altered the odometers, and then allegedly used fraudulent documents to obtain titles from the Kansas Department of Revenue with the falsified odometer readings.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office also alleges that he used the titles with the mispresented mileage to defraud customers who purchased vehicles.
