WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A house fire in Hoisington started from electrical issues within the control panel of a stove, but it was a cat in the house who saved the person and dog as well.

Barton County Fire District 2 in Hoisington said in a Facebook post at 3:54 a.m. on Friday that fire crews were dispatched to a reported structure fire in the 500 block of E. 1st St.

Upon arrival, crews saw visible smoke coming from a house. BCFD said one person, a dog, and a cat were occupying the home. The cat woke the adult, and all three exited the home safely.

The fire spread from the stove and caused the wall to catch fire. Minimal damage was done to the kitchen, and no injuries were reported.

Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 45 minutes.
