4 Kansas highway bridges to close for repairs until October

15 March 2024

OSAGE COUNTY (KSNT) – Four Kansas bridges located in Osage County are set to close next week for expansive repairs.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) announced in a press release on Thursday, March 14 that work crews will repair bridges over 325th Street, 333rd Street, 341st Street and Frog Creek. Work is set to start on Monday, March 18.

KDOT spokeswoman Kate Craft said each bridge is located inside a four-mile corridor of U.S. 75 Highway between K-276 Highway and the Coffey County Line. Work on each bridge, except for Frog Creek, will occur at the same time. Crews will move on to Frog Creek’s bridge once work on the 341st Street bridge is finished.

The project will reduce traffic on the bridges to one lane with a 12-foot width restriction. Temporary traffic signals will help direct the flow of traffic.

Craft said both lanes of U.S. 75 Highway will be open between the bridges, as will the 341st Street on and off-ramps. The speed limit will also be knocked down to 55 mph through the entire project corridor.

Workers will be on-site during daylight hours between Monday and Friday, along with Saturdays as needed. The primary contractor for the project, Wildcat Construction Co., is expected to finish the nearly $1 million project by October.
