TOPEKA (KSNT) – One man is in custody and facing multiple charges after an early morning chase.
At 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a K9 Unit with the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a silver Nissan Altima.
According to the Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office, the license plate did not belong to the vehicle.
The driver initiated a pursuit near SW 17th St. and SW McAlister Ave. ending in the 2400 block of SW Huntoon St.
The car spun out, jumped a curb, and stopped in the grass, according to Shawnee County Sheriff’s Office.
A 55-year-old Topeka man was arrested on the following charges:
felony flee and elude
felon in possession of a firearm
driving under the influence
failure to stop at a red light
transporting an open container on liquor
tag not assigned
driving the wrong way on a one-way road
failure to stop at a stop sign.
The man had a warrant for his arrest through the City of Topeka.
The investigation is ongoing, according to the sheriff’s office.
