Extremely high fire danger will plague the Plains the next several days. Fire Weather Warnings are in effect through this evening to account for this threat and will more than likely be extended in our dry, gusty and warm conditions.
Winds will stay elevated as a series of systems moves through the area through midweek.
The first system on Tuesday has a better shot of producing showers and thunderstorms in extreme eastern Kansas with a higher chance in Missouri.
The second and stronger system this week arrives on Wednesday.
Storms are possible, some of which will be strong, East of I-135. This will more than likely stay east of Wichita.
As the cold front enters Northwest Kansas, rain to snow will be possible. This snow favors more of Colorado than Kansas. We may see an uptick in snowfall accumulations in the far northwest corner of our viewing area like we did with the last potent storm system last week.
Unfortunately, much of Kansas misses the moisture connection this week.
A few rain showers are possible into Saturday across southern Kansas.
Temperatures will cool late this week closer to average. This cooldown lingers over the weekend before temps turn up next Tuesday.
Moisture chances will not return until the end of next week.
