Warm, windy, and dry conditions today means fire danger will be high to start the new week. Even if you are not included in the Fire Weather Warning the threat of grassfires will still be high.
As you enjoy the outdoors and spring-like conditions today, please do not burn anything and do not do anything that can create sparks.
Fire danger will need to be monitored Tuesday too as temperatures and winds will remain elevated. During the second half of the week is when temperatures will start to cool back down. However, even our cooler days will still be near the norm.
High pressure keeps us dry and sunny today. This starts to break down by mid-week, opening the door to rain chances.
This begins Tuesday evening. A few showers start to make their way into Northwest Kansas while a shower or storm will be possible between Central and Eastern Kansas.
The Storm Prediction Center has a few of our easternmost counties under an isolated severe storm risk.
Rain remains possible Wednesday and the evening hours will need to be monitored again for the potential of a strong to severe storm.
Counties east of Wichita are under another Marginal Risk for severe weather. This forecast is not set in stone so there is still time for things to adjust and change. Continue to get daily updates from your Storm Track 3 Weather Team.
As cooler air starts to move in Thursday some snow could mix with rain in Northwest Kansas and Southwest Nebraska. We will get a break from rain chances Friday but a few more showers will be possible over the weekend.
